Bill Scholly, as Mark Twain - about

Bill at Twain home Come see for yourselves: America's most famous author and humorist, Mark Twain, is back on the lecture circuit. Portrayed by actor Bill Scholly of Buckhead, Georgia, Twain comes alive and gives his audience healthy doses of humor and thought-provoking satire.

A life-long student of Mark Twain, Scholly has been recreating America's favorite author for over 20 years, appearing at festivals, conventions, historical societies, and civic groups.

Like Twain, Scholly has spent much of his life traveling. His father, a career Army officer, was assigned to posts around the world. Young Bill lived in Alaska, California, Washington, Iowa, Germany, North Carolina, and Georgia. As an adult, he continued to travel throughout Europe, North Africa, and the U.S. He has visited Mark Twain's boyhood home in Hannibal, Missouri, Twain's fabulous house in Hartford, Connecticut, and his family gravesite in Elmira, New York.

Scholly is a retired teacher. He graduated from Belmont Abbey College with a degree in History and received his Master's from the University of Georgia. He lives with his wife Mattie and their two children Olivia and Claire on a farm in Morgan County, Georgia.
